Profile

Abasindi Pan-African Drumming and Dance Company is a company of women of African heritage whose major aim is to celebrate and promote African and Caribbean art, music and dance through performances and workshops. The company draws on the rich and varied traditional dances, rhythms and folk songs of Africa and the Caribbean to create their own unique style and utilise the knowledge of visiting artistes from Africa and the Caribbean to develop skills and repertoire.

The company is committed to sharing these skills with others and to extending the knowledge of African culture. To this end, we organise workshops in schools, community and art centres and perform locally, nationally and internationally using drama, dance, music and costume-making for educational, social and development purposes.
