Profile
Cultureword was established in 1986 as a centre for Asian, African Caribbean and Chinese creative writing in the North West. It has achieved national renown for discovering, developing and promoting writers. Writers come to Cultureword to improve their writing skills, to increase their understanding of the writing and publishing markets and to learn how better to promote themselves. In terms of writing genres, Cultureword currently assists writers in the North West with page and performance poetry, short stories, playwriting, novel writing, writing for the Internet, writing for performance, writing for radio and writing for the screen. Cultureword, which is part of Commonword, operates under cooperative principles and has been one of the foremost Black writers networks in the North of England since its inception.
