Profile

Eastern Sangeet Society was established in 1983 in Blackburn. Its main focus is on traditional South Asian musical instruments, teaching to develop the skill of performing in public and the community.
The organisation has annually performed in Blackburn at Saint George's Hall and has also played in Burnley, Bolton and Manchester.

They have run several concerts and events often inviting renowned Indian and Pakistani artists to perform at these events. Such artists have included Shabnam Khan, Zeesha Ali and the great Ustad Mehdi Hassan.

They successfully run workshops in schools and community settings and have a reputation for producting high-quality students.


Statement from Saddique Butt, Artistic Director

We encourage all religions and diverse groups of people to promote South Asian Instrumental technique. Our main objective is to engage the community and to bring them together through music.
