Profile

Milap Festival Trust is a dynamic and innovative South Asian Arts development organisation that has organised Milapfest, one of Britain's premier South Asian arts festivals since 1985.

Milap Festival Trust is devoted to promoting and popularising all aspects of South Asian arts and culture in the UK. It hosts a wide-ranging year long programme that encompasses music, dance, theatre, film and the visual arts.

The Trust acts as a catalyst for South Asian Arts development and regularly works with partners across Britain to bring innovative commissions and tours to England. It also manages SAMYO, the national South Asian Youth Orchestra, and TARANG, the national South Asian Music Ensemble. The Trust also runs a strong dance programme in the North West of England, and tours major artistes in several cities of England. It organises Sangeet Sabha, the National Music conference. The Trust works in partnership with diverse communities in the North West and London.

Statement from Prashant Nayak, Executive Director

Our vision and aim is to become the premier, dynamic development agency that stimulates and supports excellence in the practice and promotion of South Asian arts in Britain.

The trust aims to bring together people of all communities and create fresh cultural collaborations that transcend the barriers of language, race, religion and diverse cultural traditions.

In the exciting task of building today's multicultural Great Britain, Milapfest's small but committed endeavour is to try and unite the hearts and minds of all of our people, through an exhilarating celebration of arts and culture.
