Profile

Sphere works with diverse community groups; enabling them to have greater accessibility to the arts and the opportunity to work with a wide range of artists.

Through:

1 Giving a voice to communities unheard in the mainstream.
2 Telling untold stories through different artforms.
3 Enabling diverse artists to experiment within their artform.
4 Encouraging and supporting artists to collaborate and create
new work.
5 Facilitating this work accessing the mainstream.
6 Encouraging new arts audiences.

Statement from Jaheda Choudhury and Maya Chowdhury, Sphere Creators

We collide contemporary art practice with popular culture to create new spaces for new voices.

We are currently working on a multi-arts project, Sphere Dreamz, with South Asian Lesbian Bisexual Transgender women, as their experiences are unique and currently insufficiently addressed in the arts.  Sphere Dreamz will premiere at the queerupnorth international festival in May 2006.
