Artist's statement
I was born in Zambia but I have lived in Manchester since the age of five. Despite experiences of homelessness, depression and single parenthood, I have followed my passion for the written and spoken word. At 26 I now run my own writing and performing initiative. I hope to inspire others.

Chanje continues working on commissioned pieces as well as running workshops and working with young people and with people at risk. She was commissioned to write a 15 minute play as part of the Amber Chronicles series about Pre-slavery Africa for Black History Month. The plays were performed at the Zion Arts Centre Manchester and the Unity Theatre Liverpool in October 2006.
