Artist's statement
I make work which fearlessly depicts the world we inhabit using any available method, material, space or place to investigate a given concept.
Robert Hughes has mourned the irrelevance of contemporary art, to life, to the world, to anyone outside the art world. My work challenges this assertion, deliberately engaging broad audiences in considering ideas. Despite training as a ceramic designer I have abandoned the idea of an artist defined by a single or narrow range of material concerns. Instead I have used otherwise mundane commercial processes, from glass laminating, to electro-plating, and industrial embroidery, to communicate ideas and stimulate debate.
This art engages many people in it’s manufacture, delivery and consumption.
